During the 1820s the administrations of both towns of Hanau were merged. The first common Mayor, who became Lord Mayor (Oberbürgermeister) was Bernhard Eberhard [de], later to become prime minister and minister of the interior of the Electorate of Hesse after the Revolution of 1848. In contrast to the Huguenots, the Walloon and Dutch Calvinist refugees came from an area of what is now the Netherlands, Belgium and the French Département Nord at the time of Spanish rule, the Spanish Netherlands. With the arrival of the Huguenots, Walloons and Dutch, Hanau’s rise to become an important business location began. Until 1821, the new town had its own independent community, independent of the old town. Formerly it was the site of a castle which used the waters of the river Kinzig as a defense.

Incremental Development

Demand-side Theory of Development…explanation of economic development that focuses on discovering, expanding, and creating new markets; forming new businesses; nurturing indigenous re-sources; and involving government in the economy. Developing the ability of a community-based neighborhood organization to effec-tively design economic development strategies through technical assistance, networks, conferences, and workshops. CDC (Bank CDC)… bank-sponsored community development corporations are a way for banks to contribute to economic revitalization by investing in local businesses and real estate investment pro-jects that benefit low- and moderate-income groups. A community can establish a bank CDC by working with one or more local banks, the Federal Reserve, the Comptroller, and its respective state financial institutions’ regulators.

Contrast this with just listing a bunch of features to build, Dual-track has a learning/validation process in front of a building process, which helps prevent building something that creates little value. The two tracks are said to go in parallel because the same team works on both, just slightly out of phase. Umbrella Bonds…low-cost financing with lower interest rates for projects too small to qualify for normal revenue bond programs. Bond proceeds are used as loans for acquisition of land, building, machinery, and equipment.

If you want to learn or master web development, perhaps you’ll enjoy the most comprehensive glossary the field may have to offer. Fidelity — Describes how accurate a prototype is to the actual product; high-fidelity means that’s a damn accurate prototype. Customer Attributes — Characteristics of the product in the eyes of the consumer; e.g. how fast it works, how loud it is, how good it tastes, etc. Bob Sutton — Prominent author of best-selling business books you’ve likely heard of, such as The No Asshole Rule.

Scrum Master is responsible for establishing the true scrum process over the project lifetime, facilitating it for the organization, product owner, and the team. Scrum masters are all about the process, they are not involved in decision-making. To learn more about why it is important to invest more time into business analysis and first designs, read our article about design-driven development. For most companies that don’t have their own in-house development team (building the dream team may take up some time), outsourcing or outstaffing are a viable and reliable way to get the job done. The process of testing a software based on an analysis of the internal structure of the component or system.

Lead Time

At ein-des-ein, we include the Intellectual property clause in the contract so that the clients can be 100% sure that they are the sole owners of the app. Test-driven development is the practice of writing tests before the code, where the test suite acts as the specification of requirements. Quantification of the implied cost of additional maintenance work in future caused by making trade-offs now to deliver software faster. Taint analysis is an information security process used to trace the flow of user input through a system to see the security implications. Spaghetti code is a pejorative term for unstructured code that is difficult to understand and maintain. Slow deterioration of software performance over time leading to software becoming buggy and unusable.

But he missed working in industry, where it was easier to see the results of his research. Finally, he got his dream job King’s College London, where he was able to conduct academic research for industrial applications—the best of both worlds! Black’s path through both industry and academic research allowed him to build a remarkable career in drug development. The process of generating interest around a product or service through any method.

Prototype — An initial or early construction of the product concept, typically less formed than a “final” product; a mock-up, rough draft, meant to be iterated upon. User-centric Design — Design focused on the user, contrast this with design focused on lowering cost, improving manufacturability, design to attract attention or stand-out on the shelf.

Product Development Overview

For his groundbreaking work in establishing the backbone of the modern drug-development process, Black won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1988. Limiting the production of acid can help to treat stomach ulcers, and Black worked closely with his team of scientists to find a medicine that could block the production of stomach acid. Acid-producing cells in the stomach, called parietal cells, have receptors on their surfaces for a chemical called histamine. When histamine binds to this receptor, it stimulates the parietal cells to produce acid. Black and his team identified the histamine receptor on parietal cells [5]. Cimetidine works by blocking histamine from binding to that receptor, stopping the acid-making parietal cells from responding to histamine, which decreases the production of stomach acid (Figure 2).

  • Business Case — The justification for undertaking a project or product, typically made using financial analysis (expected cost, benefit, profit, etc.).
  • This is an enormous list of product development terms, organized in roughly a logical order based on the development process.
  • Incubator / Business Incubator
A program, often sponsored by a university or nonprofit organization, that provides support and guidance to start-up companies during the embryonic phases of their development to support job creation and retention.
  • Fundamentally New Product — A radically new product that likely uses an entirely new technology or addresses a new or unfamiliar market; among the highest-risk new product ventures.
  • Marty Cagan — Wrote Inspired, which is a well-respected book particularly among digital product developers; also manages the Silicon Valley Product Group, which hosts events, training, and has a good newsletter.
  • Sustainable Development…development that does not destroy or eventually deplete a location’s natural resources.
  • First Wave…Strategic paradigm of economic development that focuses on business attractin tactics.

Version control systems are software used to manage changes to a codebase over time to recall specific versions later. User acceptance testing, one of the testing steps, checks whether a software application serves the end users’ requirements. Usability testing is a test of whether users can accomplish their target actions by finding and accessing the features in the configuration control boards software. The process of testing to cover major functions of the software but none in depth. Reactive programming is a declarative paradigm that is primarily concerned with the propagation of change in data to all its consumers. Object-oriented programming is a programming paradigm built on the concept of objects that contain both data and code to modify the data.

Conjoint Analysis — A method of analyzing how much potential consumers value various attributes (usually features and benefits) in a product; a statistical technique used in market research; a way of determining what consumers really value in a product.
